ZUNO Moodle integration: gamified training in your existing LMS

In conversations with companies and partners, one question has come up many times: can ZUNO work inside the system we already use for training?

Today, we have a concrete answer: ZUNO Games now supports Moodle integration. Our gamified modules can become part of an existing Moodle environment, allowing companies to improve the learning experience without replacing their LMS.

For our team, this is an important development milestone. For HR, learning and development, and compliance teams, it creates a new opportunity to bring practical challenges, questions and feedback into the training they already run.

Your LMS, gamified.

An integration shaped by conversations with clients

Many companies we speak with already have organised courses, assigned training and established processes for employees. They have invested time and resources in making those systems work.

At the same time, they want to improve how employees learn. They are interested in shorter learning units, interactive content and gamification, but need any new solution to fit into their existing workflow.

That is why the integration question kept returning.

We listened to those needs and developed a way to connect ZUNO content with Moodle. It allows the conversation to start with a specific course a company wants to improve, supported by the infrastructure it already uses.

What gamified compliance training can look like?

Imagine a data protection course.

An employee opens the course in Moodle and enters a ZUNO module. A short scenario appears: a request to share customer data has arrived. The employee needs to choose the next step.

After responding, they receive an explanation connected to their organisation’s policies, then continue to another challenge. They practise making decisions they might encounter during the working day.

The same approach can be applied to different topics:

  • Code of conduct: deciding how to respond when a supplier offers a gift before a purchasing decision.
  • Workplace safety: identifying a risk and selecting the appropriate action under an internal procedure.
  • Internal policies: applying a process to a situation relevant to a particular role.

These are possible training scenarios. The actual content is developed around the company’s learning objectives and policies.

Gamification that supports understanding

ZUNO Games develops gamified learning experiences through challenges, questions and feedback. In compliance training, we place particular emphasis on helping employees understand how a rule applies.

Points, badges and visible progress can support motivation, depending on the capabilities of the selected module. A relevant situation, a meaningful decision and a clear explanation provide the foundation.

That is why we begin by asking what employees should recognise, understand or do after completing the module.

The answer guides the content and game mechanics. Each interaction should contribute to the learning objective and help employees connect the training with their work.

How we start with one module

The first step is choosing a course that matters to your team. It could involve adapting existing material or developing a new training topic.

Together, we define the learning objective, audience and practical situations the module should cover. We check the LMS fit and required configuration, then agree the scope and testing approach.

During a pilot, we review the employee experience and agreed indicators. These might include completion by the deadline, responses to practical questions and feedback on the usefulness of the content.

Starting with one module gives the company an opportunity to assess the approach in a specific context before considering wider use.

What comes next for other LMS platforms?

Moodle is the starting point for this direction of development.

Our plan is to make all ZUNO learning content available for packaging as SCORM, so it can also be opened in other LMS platforms that support the relevant version of the standard.

This would give companies and partners greater flexibility to choose ZUNO content for their needs and use it within an existing learning environment.

Moodle integration is available now.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to replace Moodle?
No. The integration is designed to bring ZUNO modules into an existing Moodle environment.

Can we use materials we already have?
We can start with your content and assess how to adapt it into a gamified learning experience.

Which results can we track?
The information an LMS receives depends on the module and configuration. We define and verify the required reporting before the pilot.
